Mia's mom Ashley writes: "At 33 1/2 weeks pregnant, my water broke right before
Iron Chef started. We went to the hospital, but they sent me home saying my water hadn't broke. All night the amniotic fluid leaked. The next morning, I went to my doctor because I knew something was wrong. He said my water had broken and I would be having a C-section to deliver her later that day. Mia Simone was born at 2 p.m. She was 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 19 inches long. She looked perfect, but she was actually very sick - her lungs weren't mature enough to breath on her own. She also had an extremely bad infection and high blood pressure. She ended up being on a respirator for 14 days. She was also given two different kinds of blood pressure medicine, antibiotics, and medicine that paralyzed and sedated her. They told me she would get a whole lot worse before she got any better, but they were wrong! She immediately started to get better. Her only bad days were the ones when I was too sick to go to the hospital t

o see her. After she got off the respirator, she had a problem feeding. But she only stayed in the hospital for 1 month. She is a perfect 16 1/2 month old now. She was never behind in her development! And I'm very happy she is okay now!"
